Day0.5: Apologies

I appear not to have enabled the email subscription service. This may well have confused anyone who tried to subscribe. This problem has now been rectified. Please try again. It should now work!

Humble apologies and not a good omen!

Day 0: St Bees

In exactly one week, May 6th 2015, I'll be on my way, plodding purposefully from St Bees on the Irish Sea en route to Robin Hood's Bay on the North Sea, following the route devised by Alfred Wainwright, who so loved these fells and who is personally responsible for making the Coast-to-coast possibly the most popular long distance trail in Britain. I will be carrying his guidebook with me and will no doubt refer to it and him many times along the way.

Should you wish to follow me on my latest adventure, please add your email address and click on the link at the top of the sidebar on the right, and follow the instructions. You will receive an email each time I post to this blog, essentially every day, provided I am able to access the net.

Please feel free to comment. On previous occasions I have very much enjoyed the conversation, and learned many things along the way. As usual, you will have to have a Blogger or a Google identity to comment and I do hope they have straightened out this clunky interface in the interim. I can only repeat my previous advice that if you are having trouble commenting, just sign up to Blogger as if you were going to write a blog yourself! The process is straightforward and you will immediately be given a Blogger identity from which to comment.

One small technical change is that I will no longer be making use of the services of Everytrail to record the daily tracks of my walk. Everytrail has become most unreliable and many of it's features are no longer available. Instead I have devised a new routine involving uploading my tracks directly to Google Maps. These can be accessed by clicking on the daily links, or alternatively, by accessing the day in question on the sidebar on the right. The map can be viewed in any of Google's formats, such as profile, satellite or just the standard map by selecting the appropriate setting under "Base map", top left.

Now to get on with the planning. You'd think it would be routine by now, but it isn't!  So much to do, so little time.  Looking forward to your company along the way!!
